Common Toxicities for Dogs

Please be aware that getting your dog to throw up whatever he got into is not always the best answer, as some things are just as toxic coming back up. Sometimes poisons have to be neutralized first before inducing vomiting. How and When To Induce Vomiting

Contacting your vet and/or poison control is always a good first step. National Poison Control can be reached at (800) 548-2423 or (888) 426-4435. An emergency vet will often require that you contact Poison Control on the way in with your dog, as they will be in contact directly with your vet. There is a fee for Poison Control, so be prepared with a credit card. These lists include everything from stomach upsetting to highly toxic/life threatening (e.g. antifreeze).
